Happy camper experiences

Prior to the pandemic, Camp Casey annually welcomed dozens of groups ranging from training camps for sports or dance teams, to writing groups and family reunions. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to enjoy our facilities when the time is right. Until then, here’s some feedback from happy campers speaking on their past experiences.

Elite runner Ruth Perkins coaches established runners wanting to become more competitive. Remembering what a special place Camp Casey is, she organized her first private camp here in 2019. She brought experts on overcoming physical and mental challenges, as well as massage, yoga and nutrition to help her runners. “The setting, lodging, and meals were ideal,” she said. “In fact, the food was so amazing, participants were even asking for recipes to prepare later at home.” The group plans to return in the near future.

In early 2020, a Girl Scout troop of eight Juniors and two Cadettes arrived at Camp Casey to work on a “Journey in a Weekend” and to experience cabin camping and cooking outdoors. According to Troop Leader Alexis Cruikshank, the venue is great for Scouting. “The facilities allow for group sleeping which the girls love,” she said. “We had a kitchen available for some of our meals, firepits for cooking and s’mores, and lots of activities.”

Before COVID 19, the Seattle Pacific University (SPU) Falcon Running Camp has called Camp Casey Conference Center home, since 1962. The group looks forward to returning when the time is right. “The setting is perfect. The water, the air, the trees, the wildlife, the trails, and the history, all make this a fantastic setting for these kids to get out of the bustle of their lives and find their inner selves,” said Chris Reed, SPU’s track & field/cross country associate head coach. “Plus, the care of the Camp Casey staff simply seals the deal.”
