This month, Camp Casey welcomes Zanini’s Catering and Events, owned by Jackie Catanio-Huerta of Oak Harbor, Washington to provide the camper meals in Mess Hall A. Zanini’s business is named in honor of her grandfather and mother.
Former Casey caterers Fred and Barbara Bennett, owners of ShoNuff Foods, are in the process of relocating to Florida to be closer to their family.
“We are grateful to Fred and Barbara for the thousands of great meals they made for our guests over the past six years,” said Robyn Myers, Camp Casey conference services manager. “Although it’s hard to see them leave, we are excited to welcome Jackie and her creative team. Our menu is expanding, with plans for frequent changes to create a nice variety.”
The company is a family affair. Team members include Jackie’s son, Thomas, and brother Joe, along with her husband, daughter and granddaughter (Naomi Jean in the photo above).
“Although we are Italian, our recipe book is full of different foods,” she said. “The choices will be many. From frittatas to lasagnas to full-on barbecues, we will create meals to accommodate every group’s needs.”
The catering family is used to preparing meals for guests with dietary restrictions and working to meet special food requests.
“As my momma would say, we are ‘over the moon’ with enthusiasm. The team here is so easy to work with. Robyn’s enthusiasm and welcoming spirit has made the transitioning process warm and easy,” she said. “We look forward to joining the Camp Casey Conference Center family.”
